March 22 (Bloomberg) — Canada’s Competition Bureau said it will continue to challenge rules by the country’s real estate association that it says are anti-competitive.

The competition agency, in a statement released in Ottawa, said changes agreed to today by the Canadian Real Estate Association don’t remove existing roadblocks that keep agents from “offering innovative services and pricing options to consumers.”

Real estate agents today voted to modify their rules in a way that they say will address the competition watchdog’s concerns, the Canadian Real Estate Association said in a statement earlier today.

“There is nothing in these proposals that we haven’t seen before and they do not solve the problem,” Melanie Aitken, Commissioner of Competition, said in the statement.

Alyson Fair, a spokeswoman for the real estate association, declined to elaborate on the changes approved by the agents.
